Blog - 1 Yoga as a way of life

🙏Namste Everyone Welcome to my blog.

You must have noticed that yoga has become very popular now a days, mostly in the last few yrs with celebrities and star from bollywood. But what is yoga meant to you ? Is it only Asanas and Meditation or something more ?

Yoga meant to me not only asanas or meditation but I embrace it as a way of life. Yoga teaches us How to live ? How to sit ? How to stand ?  How to walk ? How to be happy and grateful towards little things in life ? What should we eat n all ? In yogic language yoga teaches us AVAV that is Aachar, Vichar, Aahar, Vihar.

Now what is Yoga actually means yoga ? The word 'Yoga' is derived from the Sanskrit root 'Yuj', meaning 'to join' or 'to yoke' or 'to unite'.

According to bhagwat Geeta yoga is “samatvam”. It is having a balanced and equipoise state of mind in different situations of life.

Another defination given by bhagwat Geeta is “योग: कर्मसु कौशलम्”. It is skill in action. Here shrikrishna talk about following karma yoga for liberation.

In bhagwat Geeta shrikrishna talk about bhakti also that one who completely surrenders to God can also achieve liberation.

According to sage patanjali in his classic text yoga is योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः It is cessation of modifications of mind. As per this text yoga is not union it is samadhi. It is separation of purusha from Prakriti so that purusha can attain liberation.

Yoga is a system of physical and mental discipline which originated in India long ago. Yoga has many branches like Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Hatha Yoga. But most of us in India or Abroad meant yoga as a Hatha Yoga, which consists of certain exercises called 'Asanas'.

We are all busy with no time for exercise or relaxation. Leading to lifestyle disease like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, back n neck pain etc. Right..

Practicing yoga regularly helpful in preventing or treating diseases. Yoga helps us to strengthen our body remind regain our focus and improve our self confidence. It can be practiced by all age groups.

Yoga also has beneficial results in treating many diseases like asthma, diabetes, hypertention, obesity, etc. It also helps maintain one's youth n vitality. Yoga asanas help to control purify and coordinate the nervous system.

Doing yoga regularly rids the body of toxins thereby improving general health. It also rids the mind of impure impulses leading to concentrate and inner peace within it.

Just as a government is unable to function without the support of it's people, similarly the body is unable to function if the controller that is the mind has lost control over it's senses.

Attainment of peace is only possible if the mind has absolute control on the senses n Yoga is a spiritual pursuit. Look, Our mind is a restless monkey it gets distracted very easily, we have to make a way to it positively.

Pranayama divided into prana and ayama. Where yama means to ‘restrain’ or ‘control’, ayama means the opposite – i.e. to not do that. Thus in a Pranayama practice, we are not in fact trying to control the prana, but instead to to free it.

Pranayama is derived from sanskrit word Prana+Ayam. Now what is Prana? Prana is a life force, vital energy. Prana is not breath n Ayam means regulation. For pranayama practice we make use of our breath so with the movement of breath we regulate prana in our system.

Those who have embraced 'Yoga as a way of life' lead a happy, healthy, and stressfree life with inner peace. They have greater control over there emotions.

Yoga is meant to be philosophy, it's all about human psychology and yoga technology. It's a experiential science. "Yoga is not work out, it's work in." We must practice it for healthy, happy and fulfilling life. It is a wonderful alternate feeling therapy for any disease.

Do we need for a change in the way we are living. Our routines for the day. Our way of thinking, kind of feeling. We entertain all three necessary. That is when we would have learn some yoga.

Thank u so much🙏
